Sensitive people tend to feel things more deeply, and anxiety is often the flip side of that emotional sensitivity.
Anxiety is generally a future-oriented, long-lasting response to a vague or uncertain threat. In contrast, fear is a present-focused, short-lived reaction to a clear and specific danger.
Breathing exercises can help people experiencing anxiety return to the present moment. They act as a physical “anchor”, shifting attention away from racing thoughts about the past or future and toward the immediate sensation of breathing in and out.
This works by interrupting the body’s fight-or-flight response, slowing the heart rate, and activating the parasympathetic nervous system-often know as the body’s “rest and digest” system.
